Load Balancing Engineer

This position is a Load Balancing Engineer with hands-on experience with F5 BigIP GTM and LTM devices and/or Citrix NetScaler. This highly dynamic position will interact with application teams from across American Airlines to create a load balancing solution unique to their application requirements. A typical internal engagement takes about two weeks each, with several running in parallel per engineer. While load balancing patterns are standardized, each application requires individual attention and knowledge.

o Bachelors degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field preferred, equivalent experience is acceptable
o 10+ years IT experience required, minimum 4 years in Load Balancing technology

Responsibility level
o Exercises independent judgment with minimal direction from supervisor
o Coordinates multiple managed service providers using standardized engagements to complete work in Production environments
o Interacts with multiple internal application teams to create customized load balancing solutions.

o Load balancing technology including algorithms and health check options
o F5 BigIP GTM Wide IP configuration
o F5 BigIP LTM VIP configuration with health check
o F5 BigIP iRule programming and troubleshooting
o Citrix NetScaler VIP configuration with health check
o Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills
o Expert ability to work independently and manage one’s time
o Expert mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback
o Expert knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery
o Expert ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue
